Featured Speaker: Chief Robb Gottsch

Robert “Robb” Gottsch - Fire Chief, City of Papillion

Robb Gottsch is a second-generation firefighter, inspired by his father, Gary, to pursue a career in the fire service. He has served in the fire service for 32 years, beginning his career with the Omaha Fire Department in 1993. Over the years, he rose through the ranks from Firefighter to Captain and ultimately Battalion Chief.

Robb’s career has been marked by a wide range of experiences, including service as a Fire Investigator, suppression Captain, and Command Officer. Along the way, he earned numerous state and national certifications, as well as advanced education. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is a designated Chief Fire Officer, a Certified Fire Investigator, and has shared his expertise as an adjunct instructor in Fire Science at both Metropolitan Community College and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

After retiring from Omaha Fire in March 2023, Robb was appointed Fire Chief of Papillion Fire in April 2023.

Robb has been married to his wife, Angela, for 31 years, and together they have four children and five grandchildren.

Fire Chief Robb Gottsch will share practical strategies for building stronger partnerships to reduce community risk. He’ll cover the mission and priorities of today’s fire service, trends in calls for service, best practices for responding to automatic fire detection systems and alarms, and how to collaborate effectively with building owners and their representatives.
